Frequently Asked Questions About Wheelchair Transportation
What level of assistance do your drivers provide beyond just transportation?
Our drivers are trained to provide appropriate assistance getting in and out of vehicles, securing wheelchairs and mobility devices, and can assist clients with check-in procedures at medical facilities. While we cannot provide personal care or medical assistance, we can help with light tasks like carrying a purse or medical bag. We always respect your loved one’s independence level and provide only the assistance they want and need.
What Types of Wheelchairs Can You Accommodate?
Our vehicles can safely transport standard manual wheelchairs, bariatric & power wheelchairs, and most mobility scooters. Please let us know about your specific wheelchair when booking so we can ensure the appropriate vehicle is assigned.
How Far in Advance Should I Book Wheelchair Transportation?
We recommend booking at least 24-48 hours in advance to ensure availability, though we do our best to accommodate last-minute requests when possible.
What happens if you're running late or there's an emergency during a scheduled pickup?
We understand that missed medical appointments can have serious consequences. Our advanced scheduling system builds in buffer time, and we provide real-time updates via text or phone if delays occur. In case of vehicle breakdown or emergency, we have backup vehicles and drivers on standby.
Do You Accept Insurance for Non-Medical Transportation?
Baker’s Transit does not currently accept insurance plans.
Payment Methods Accepted: We accept electronic forms of payment including credit cards, debit cards, and personal checks.
Can a Caregiver or Family Member Ride Along?
Yes, we allow up to two companions to accompany the patient at no additional charge in most cases.
Please inform us when booking if someone will be accompanying the patient so we can ensure adequate space in the vehicle.
